My husband and I spent 5 days in Barcelona following a friends wedding and we decided to treat ourselves with a stay at Hotel Neri in the Junior Suite. We are so glad we did, we had such an amazing stay. I wanted to stay in a place that had history and interest but all the comforts of modern amenities and Hotel Neri provided it. The Room: Located on the 3rd floor, the Junior Suite was spacious, comfortable and tranquil, it was our climate controlled escape from the Barcelona heat and humidity. I loved how the room incorporated local products. There were lovely textiles, bath and body products and house keeping left us some nice sweets every night which were made in a Spanish monastery. They provided a new glass water bottle every day which was much appreciated. Every hotel staff member we encountered said we had their favorite room in the hotel and we would have to agree. We had a beautiful view of the courtyard and school. I've seen complaints about how loud people find it but I didn't think it was that bad. It served as a comforting distant hum. During the evenings there would be a musician playing his violin in the small courtyard and it was lovely way to relax after a day of sightseeing. We did have two small issues with the room. First, the shower door didn't seal properly and water would leak out onto the floor. Second, we struggled a bit figuring out light switches as taking our room key out of the slot by the door cut all the power including the USB ports which we needed to charge our phones at night so we had to turn all the lights off with their switches. Unfortunately we couldn't find a switch for the floor lamp so my husband ended up unplugging the lamp every night. The Food: We were so glad we included breakfast when we booked our room. We really enjoyed both the food and the convenience of having it delivered to our room every morning. The juices, fruit and pastries were delicious. You can pick two breakfast plates and we tried almost all of the savory options. My favorite ended up being the eggs benedict with jamon iberico and the ham/cheese and truffle toast. So yummy! We tried room service once because the restaurant was fully booked and had no availability for walkins and it was enjoyable. I recommend making a reservation or asking at check-in if you're interested in dining there. The room service menu however has a small sampling of items from the main menu. The Chusco bread was some of the best bread we've ever had. We had a couple mix ups on our food orders. On our final morning we were sent the salmon eggs benedict instead of the jamon, they apologized, quickly brought over the correct dish and offered to leave the salmon version behind but I asked them to take it. Our more involved mix up was with the dinner room service, reading off the menu we asked for the cod croquettes which are listed as 4 unidades for 12 euros and they only brought us one. When we called to ask about the other 3, someone told my husband that they sell unit by unit, in which case why does the menu state 4 units for 12 euro? I understand that the restaurant dine in menu lists the croquettes as a single unit for 3 euro so that may be the source of the misunderstanding but I did not like the denial we were met with when we stated that the menu clearly states 4 for 12. There wasn't much pushback however and they brought up the other 3 croquettes. The Staff: Aside from the above issue which I decided to chalk up to a busy night for the staff at the restaurant, we found the staff to be friendly, helpful, and accommodating. When we arrived we were immediately greeted, offered water and they took our bags off our hands. They provided a helpful map with recommended sites for sightseeing and dining. We were taken up to our room by Marcelo (I think that's his name, he's one of the younger staff) and he was very friendly and welcoming. At every interaction with staff they asked how we were enjoying our stay, what we're doing for the day and would ask if we needed anything. We shared the elevator a couple of times with maintenance and housekeeping staff and they were all very friendly as well. On our first morning, the elevators were having an issue so we took the stairs and were given a sunny 'good morning' by a staff member making his way up. We met the wonderful Thomas on our second day and he fully embodied this level of hospitality and personalization, I will forever appreciate how we were treated by him. He let us in at the end of a long day and made sure to welcome us and asked for our names. He was always asking if there was anything he could do to help, would provide recommendations to make our outings go smoothly and would try to make you laugh. A tip if you stay here, when someone offers to call a taxi for you, take them up on their offer. We tried and failed to catch a taxi one morning and missed our Parc Güell window. When we returned to the hotel to figure out what to do, Thomas and another staff person, took it upon themselves to help us find a solution, including walking with us to the closest major street to catch a taxi or calling a taxi for us. We ended up deciding to get tickets for the following day and Thomas then proceeded to recommend another activity for our morning while we waited for our Sagrada Familia window (for which Thomas called a taxi for us). Again, I appreciate that they seemed to care not just about our experience at the hotel but our experience in Barcelona as a whole. The staff provided an unforgettable, hospitality experience for my husband and I. It would be easy to say that we just had a standard Relais & Chateaux experience however we have stayed at the R&C hotel in Carmel-By-The-Sea and this stay blows that one out of the water. Hotel Neri staff are remarkable at their jobs and I hope they are appreciated by management! We would love to come back again one day!

Charming boutique hotel in the Gothic Quarter- the best Barcelona neighborhood. Excellent location, very clean, supreme level of service, Tomas and the hotel staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and made perfect recommendations for local restaurants and attractions, assisted with logistics and walking directions. Rooftop splash pool was a great amenity. A bit pricy but worth it. Highly recommend this hotel!

We had a great stay. The staff was amazing! Thomas was amazingly friendly and helpful. They accommodated an early check-in (10am), which helped after our flight that got us in at 9am. The pool, is a dipping pool but was nice after walking the gothic quarter all day. Breakfast there was the best meal we had every day with the fresh juices, breads, açaí bowl, and eggs/meats. Overall, great experience with its central location, great service/staff, and nice quite rooms/bathrooms. Would recommend to anyone coming to Barcelona, that wants to stay in the gothic quarters.

Hotel staff very kind and professional. Front desk very kind, doorman super helpful and nice. Room very small with terrible view and smell of mildew (207) Restaurant well below average, food service not coordinated, everyone’s dishes arrived at different times (in one case was forgotten completely). Dinner food subpar - incoherent menu and very limited wine selection. Not what we expect from Relais & Chateau. Breakfast very good. Garage is 300 meters away, no valet service. Rooftop terrace not well-maintained and dirty. Someone left wet towels, staff came up to serve drinks and didn’t seem to notice.

Our stay at Hotel Neri was fantastic, a perfect balance of historical charm and modern luxury. It richly deserves the coveted Relais et Chateaux designation. The location was perfect, down a quiet alley in the quaint and bustling Bari Gothic, which is full of bars, restaurants, churches and boutiques. Our room overlooked a pretty and historic courtyard; the bathroom had fluffy bathrobes, a towel warmer and a rainforest shower that seemed to be carved into the granite walls. It’s worth it to add the daily breakfast; it’s a beautiful presentation of fruit, breads, yogurts and juices, plus two more entrees of your choosing, And the service was exceptional. Everyone at Hotel Neri went out of their way to make us feel welcome and accommodated. It was difficult to leave when our stay was over.
